What Sets SSI Above the Competition?

When it comes to building and serving wastewater aeration projects SSI Inc. thinks, "customer first". Our ethical approach to production ensures we produce membranes for quality and not to produce the cheapest parts. This includes our policies or even manufacturing processess.

For example:

  • - Using compression molding not injection molding or extrusion;
  • - Using multiple threads in our retaining rings rather than a single thread;
  • - Applying virgin copolymers in all of our plastic parts instead of cheap regrinds;
  • - Thick header pipes instead of the thinnest wall that we are allowed by spec;
  • - We use stainless steel support stands instead of plastic and we provide the anchors.

Our expertise includes correcting oxygen transfer tests to 1000 mg/l TDS instead of 2000 mg/l which results in lower values for us. We provide cooling pipes, acid cleaning, and pressure monitoring systems when we think they are needed, and we include them in the price.

SSI Inc. utilizes a variety of sampling methods to verify the quality of our products. Most importantly we utilize sub vendors who have been pre qualified, and for the sake of continuity and retained knowledge, we endeavor to keep the same sub vendors over a long period of time.

Aeration systems have many critical dimensions parts with close tolerances. For some items we checked each piece (i.e. each batch of rubber physical properties, each tube membrane ID and wall thickness, each disc membrane integral O-ring), and for others we follow military standard 105-D sampling procedures (i.e. bubble test, plastic part dimensions).

Moving Beyond ISO

It is very common in our industry to ask for an ISO certification. SSI Inc. prefers to move beyond quality methods in name only, rather, aggressively sample parts for our own production. We work hand-in-hand with sub vendors to develop a QC protocol, and we will generally supply examples "acceptable" and "reject able" parts so that our quality standards reach each and every worker on the production line.
