Oxygen Transfer Testing
Fine bubble aeration system contracts often require that a clean water oxygen transfer test be performed or proof of a prior similar test be submitted to the client for approval.
SSI has at its disposal a number of tanks and utilizes the services of a well respected testing firm to carry out or oversee our clean water oxygen transfer tests.
Field Services
Such tests are typically carried out per ASCE 1992 or ATV M209 standards and SSI maintains a library of prior test results which are available to our clients. In most cases we will carry out absorption tests which are common to both standards.
From time to time a process water oxygen transfer test is required per ASCE 1996 or ATV M209. In most cases we will carry out off-gas tests which are common to both standards. Such tests are particularly useful to plant operators with a new aeration system.
By benchmarking new and clean diffusers in a lab using the off-gas method, then applying the off-gas method to the same new diffusers once installed in activated sludge, it is possible to determine the alpha factor. Over time one can go back and re-test the field performance of the same diffusers thereby charting the decline alpha factor over time which we refer to as fouling.
Startup and Commissioning
SSI both directly and through our network of agents across the country and the world supply professional startup and commissioning services to clients. We charge reasonable fees and are willing to make multiple trips when necessary to get the job done right.
SSI field service technicians are well trained and will check all aspects of the aeration system including proper anchorage, level, bubble pattern, and diffuser and saddle mounting.
