July 13, 2007:  First Snappy Saddle Tube Diffuser Installation to be Completed

We have three projects with Snappy Saddles and the first one will be installed next week.  Check back for photos and a testimonial when the work is done.

July 13, 2007:  SSI Succeeds to Manufacture Compression Molded Tube Membranes

Our tooling is complete and we are now up and running producing compression molded tube membranes.  The advantages of this method of production are many.  They include the ability to use the highest quality base rubber with very little plasticizer, and uniform tear resistance.   Additionally we can keep the wall thickness even throughout the entire part ensuring even air distribution and the highest possible SOTE.   Headloss of the new membranes is very low.

March 8, 2007:   SSI Cap Diffusers Perform in Sludge Holding Basins in Henderson, KY

Two plants in the City of Henderson, KY use SSI coarse bubble aeration systems.   The North WWTP installed theirs in 2001.  The Plant Superintendent recently wrote us a nice letter:

"We have had the Stamford disc [coarse bubble cap] diffusers installed in our two 450,000 gallon sludge holding basins for neearly five years and we have never had a problem with them.  We also see adequate mixing and desired performance.  The basins are inspected periodically and we have not had to replace any of the modules to date.

March 6, 2007:    SSI 12" PTFE Makes Life Easier for Alma,  Kansas WWTP

In 2006, Alma, Kansas replaced another famous brand of 9" EPDM membrane diffusers with SSI 12" PTFE disc diffusers due to frequent clogging and fouling problems with the old diffusers.

"The City of Alma wastewater  plant has been operating SSI's PTFE coated 12" disc diffusers for almost one year with no problems.  We have not had to perform any maintenance on the diffusers and there has been no instances of membrane clogging whatsoever.   The PTFE coated diffuser membranes have made all the differences in our aeration basin since installation and we are very satisfied with SSI's product and would recommend to anyone.

We're planning to check on membranes later for maintenance.  We cannot believe that we have not had to clean them yet.  Thanks for making life easier for the operators at plant and have a great 2007.

Sincerely yours

Max Kraus, City Superintendent, City of Alma, Kansas"

March 6, 2007:    City of Monterrey, Mexico orders SSI 12" Disc Diffusers for 3 plants

SSI and its distributors Vaconsa and Vanderbeken Americas have been awarded three prestigious projects in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey.  The project names are Caredetya, Linares, and Planta Norte.   A total of 9000 pcs of SSI 12" EPDM disc diffusers will be supplied in these aeration systems with complete engineering of the system by SSI.

March 1, 2007:    Xenia, Ohio Ford Road WWTP Very Satisfied with SSI Diffusers

In 2006, the City of Xenia sole sourced SSI for a plant expansion.   SSI supplied the original aeration system at the plant in 1997 and that system is still in operation today with the original membranes.

"I would recommend SSI fine-bubble diffusers Smiley.
Hello Tom.
How are things going? We are extremely pleased with our latest purchase from you.
Our wasted biomass is now kept fresh and free from release of NH3 and Ortho-P during storage. We will be looking at replacing all membranes in the Ford Road Aeration Basins in 2007.
Have a happy holidays!
Jason Tincu "

Feb 5, 2007:    SSI PTFE Disc Diffusers "Made Life Easier" for SCA Tissue of Menasha, Wisconsin

SSI receives a lot of letters from happy customers, but this one was especially heartening so we would like to share it with you.

"A few weeks ago you asked me for a short summary of how I like the new diffusers that we bought from you dating back to Spring of 2005. Below is my story.

About seven ago, we had some major problems with a couple of our 500 HP Hoffman Blowers. We had major repairs on both of them, one in 2000 and the other in 2001. Well, to make a long story short, we found out that the diffusers that we had in the aeration basins were the major reason that the blowers ended up with major repair. Many of the diffusers were in need of being replaced due to plugging and scaling on the diffuser. We have around 1100 diffusers in one aeration basin and another 1200 diffusers in the other basin. Now to replace all the diffusers would be a major expense. The current supplier was charging us a hefty price so we started to search around for new diffusers. We came across the SSI diffusers and first tried them in the summer of 2005. It was probably the best decision we have made in our wastewater treatment plant since it started processing water. Not only can we afford to replace the old diffusers, the new SSI seem to be more durable than the old ones and don't require as much maintenance. We also see that they do not plug up or scale up as bad as the old diffusers. Our current blowers could not be happier as well as myself. We have been thoroughly satisfied with the SSI diffusers from DGJ Gongol and Associates and would recommend these diffusers to everyone. Thank you for such a good and reliable product. You have definitely made life easier for all of us here at SCA Tissue.

Sincerely, Paul Johnson-Env. Manager "

SSI RECEIVES PATENT ON PTFE COATED EPDM MEMBRANES

SSI has received its first international patent on PTFE coated EPDM membranes.  This patent was filed in the US, Korea, and in the European Community.   Full patent protection in all of these areas may be in place as early as the end of 2007.    SSI was the innovator of PTFE coated EPDM membranes for fine bubble diffusers, with significant quantities installed and operating successfully by early 2007.  Don't be fooled by imitators with green, brown or other colors of coating.  SSI was the first, is the only proven technology, and will soon have full patent protection.

SSI to launch SSI Productivity division in October 2006, providing customized productivity services for small and medium sized businesses in the environmental marketplace. Services include sales, drafting and engineering automation and manpower.

ALL 12" DISC DIFFUSERS WERE NOT CREATED EQUAL!

We have manufactured and installed 12" fine bubble diffusers for over five years at wastewater treatment plants in the US and around the world.   As more companies copy SSI's design, you should be aware that it is not a simple leap from a 9" disc to a 12" disc.   Membrane material, taper, perforation technology, and plastic design and materials all differ in our 12" disc from our 9" disc.   Today our 12" disc performs as well as our 9" disc in terms of SOTE, and it has the lowest headloss of any popular disc diffuser on the market.     But it took us time, effort, and experience to get there.    Let the buyer beware who purchases a 12" disc diffuser from a company with previous experience making only 7" or 9" discs.

PTFE
SSI PTFE coated EPDM membranes continue to outperform competitors' products in side by side tests, and in hundreds of reference plants around the world.

SSI PTFE discs were selected by Saudi Arabia for more than Makkah and Jeddah WWTP's. The combined orders are for more than 200,000 diffusers.

SSI PTFE tubes were selected by CJ Co. of Korea for all of its food plants worldwide including Korea, China, Indonesia, and Brazil.

SSI PTFE discs were selected by Yorkshire Water of the UK for its framework contract to serve as a diffuser supplier for the next 5 years.

SOTE Test Results

In September, we tested our 3rd generation of disc diffusers (both EPDM and PTFE, both 270mm diameter and 350mm diameter) at ATC, SA in Barcelona, Spain. This is same well regarded testing firm that performed similar tests in 2003 & 2004 on previous generations of our disc diffusers.

This year we achieved the highest oxygen transfer results ever. You can be confident that systems installed with SSI 3rd generation disc membranes are performing at the peak efficiencies available in our industry from any manufacturer. Special thanks to those who participated and helped witness the SOTE tests – Dan Christensen, Peter Moser, Mahmoud Al Labadi, Suhail Mahmoud, Basim Malki, Jordi Company.

PANEL DISC DIFFUSER

The tooling is nearly completed on SSI's new Panel Disc diffuser.    The first commercially available item will be a modified 12" disc diffuser with a high efficiency membrane.  The membrane has multiple layers of proprietary materials which produce ultra-fine bubbles with minimal membrane deflection and a reasonable headloss.   The substrate layer remains SSI's reliable EPDM, which continues to provide strength and check function to the product.    To those clients interested in ultra high efficiency but who could previously not justify the cost of a high efficiency panel system, the Panel Disc Diffuser is likely to be an attractive alternative.   Independent oxygen transfer testing will take place at ATC, SA in Barcelona in April 2007.

PTFE Coated Diffusers installed at a Dairy Wastewater Treatment Plant

In December, 2006 Danone de Mexico installed SSI 12" PTFE coated disc diffusers in their wastewater treatment plant at Irapuato.    Danone had previously used EPDM diffusers which fouled due to calcium adhesion.    Danone installed the PTFE diffusers in a new tank and simultaneously retrofit PTFE into the existing tank which contained EPDM membrane diffusers.      SSI site serviceman John Perrone assisted with the installation at the site.   Danone joints Agropur Dairy Cooperative of Quebec, Garelick Farms of New York, F & A Dairiy of Arizona, Schreiber Foods of Utah, and Fage USA Dairy of New York as SSI customers in the Dairy Industry.

SSI works with CDM on two fine bubble diffuser projects

SSI 12" disc diffusers with quick connect saddles were installed at Conroe, Texas on a project designed and installed by CDM.   SSI 9" disc diffusers with quick connect saddles were installed at Poughkeepsie, New York on a project designed and installed by CDM.  Both jobs are replacements of surface aerators. At both sites, installers commented about how much they liked working with the Quick Connect Saddles.
