Completing Plastic Piping Systems

SSI manufactures complete piping systems for fixed grid and retrievable aeration systems in the US, Canada, the UK, Italy, and China directly, and through a network of authorized agents and distributors in most countries.

Generally we use standard off the shelf plastic piping and fittings products such as uPVC Sch 40 or SDR 26 in the US, and we standardize on 4" diameter headers for most US projects. CPVC and PP piping systems are also available.

Stainless Steel Piping

Stainless steel pipework is acid passivated before shipment. MIG or TIG Welding is done by CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) certified welders. Pipe thickness varies but typical specs call out Sch. 5 or Sch 10.

Support Stands

Support stands are available in stainless steel with drop-in wedge type anchors, or in ABS plastic with drop-in wedge type anchors. All North American installations use stainless steel support stands unless otherwise specified.

ABS support stands are primarily used with disc diffusers and plastic pipe, where a low capital cost is the primary objective.

Expansion Joints: Anti-Rotational Telescoping PVC

This traveling union expansion joint is used to join plastic piping lengths together. The anti-rotational telescoping PVC expansion joints is a union which absorbs pipe expansion and contraction up to 1.5" (38mm).

Expansion Joints: Rigid Bolt

Positive locking bolted stainless steel couplings are suitable for drop pipes, stainless steel joints, and for all tube diffuser piping systems to restrict header pipe rotation.
